Procedure for Dispute Resolution

The Division of Technology Management (DTM) has established a procedure to be followed in order to resolve disputes related to the Patent and Invention Policy.

Disputes among administrators, faculty, staff and student Employees will be reviewed by the Intellectual Property Management Group for the Life Sciences or the Intellectual Property Management Group for Physical Sciences and Engineering as applicable. The DTM will seek legal advice from internal and external counsel as appropriate. Such disputes include but are not limited to issues regarding:

  1. Ownership of intellectual property rights
  2. Inventorship issues
  3. Distribution of licensing income
  4. Commercialization efforts
  5. Substantial Use of University Resources

The Intellectual Property Management Group will recommend appropriate solutions to the Vice Chancellor for Research and Sponsored Programs.
