NSF Partnerships for International Research and Education (PIRE) 2014-15

The PIRE program supports fundamental research in all areas of science and engineering that are supported by NSF (including education research in any area that NSF supports) and that involve an international collaborator from any country in the world. Unlike in previous solicitations, there will be NO thematic emphasis for this year’s competition.

Call for UM Technology & Policy Expertise Related to the Use of Electromagnetic Spectrum

In anticipation of joining a consortium to compete for federal grants and contracts addressing the increasing national demand for the use of electromagnetic spectrum, the UM Office of Research and Sponsored Programs is inventorying UM experience, expertise and/or interest in technologies, experimentation, and/or policy development related to the use of spectrum(s).

Call for Nominations for UM Faculty interested in serving as Interim Director of Mississippi NASA Space Grant Consortium

With the impending retirement of UM Professor of Chemical Engineering Dr. Peter Sukanek, the Vice Chancellor for Research and Sponsored Programs is seeking nominations (including self-nominations, endorsed by faculty member’s chair or dean) of UM faculty members interested in becoming Interim Director of the Mississippi Space Grant Consortium (MSSGC).

Over six months, the selected candidate will work with VCRSP to develop a 5-year strategic vision for the MSSGC, and present that plan to the full MSSGC for endorsement.

EPA- Systems-Based Strategies to Improve The Nation’s Ability to Plan And Respond to Water Scarcity and Drought Due to Climate Change

Program:  The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is seeking applications that use a systems approach to investigate how drought, climate change, and land use practices impact the quality and availability of surface and groundwater sources nationally. EPA is also interested in research that will help communities anticipate, plan and adapt to these new climate scenarios in the future.

BElgium WAllonia REsearch Fellowships

Program:  The BElgium WAllonia REsearch (BEWARE) Fellowhips offer the possibility for highly skilled researchers to perform a research stay in Belgium (Wallonia and Brussels) and benefit from the expertise of innovative SMEs, research centers or universities. This program is co-funded by the European Commission through the COFUND program of the Marie Curie Actions.  All research fields are eligible but the research project must demonstrate an innovative aspect and/or enable technology transfer.

NSF- Cultivating Cultures for Ethical STEM (CCE STEM)

Program: Cultivating Cultures for Ethical STEM (CCE STEM) funds research projects that identify factors that are efficacious in the formation of ethical STEM researchers in all the fields of science and engineering that NSF supports. CCE STEM solicits proposals for research that explores the following: ‘What constitutes ethical STEM research and practice?

National Endowment for the Humanities Summer Stipends Program

NEH has announced the 2014 competition for Summer Stipends for the summer of 2015. This is a limited submission opportunity, for which UM can submit only two applications for full-time faculty members.
