IRB Full Board Meeting Schedule

Protocol Review Schedule and Guidelines

Below are the monthly meeting dates and protocol deadlines for the Institutional Review Board (IRB) for Fall 2024 and Spring 2025.

Protocols are received and reviewed on a continuous basis. IRB staff conduct a preliminary review and invariably request some protocol modifications. All required training and any requested modifications must be completed and accepted by the IRB Executive Committee two weeks prior to the posted Board meeting date or the protocol WILL NOT be placed on the meeting agenda. DO NOT wait until the acceptance deadline to do an inital submission of your protocol, as this will not allow time for the inital administrative review followed by review and acceptance by the IRB Executive Committee.

Late/incomplete submissions WILL NOT be accepted and will be put on the next monthly meeting's agenda.

Guidelines

  • Fewer than 5% of protocols require Full Board Review. Contact the Division of Research Integrity and Compliance (x5046, or ) to determine if your study might require Full Board Review.
  • It is recommended that protocols for Full Board Review be submitted at least 6 weeks in advance of meetings (see schedule above). Deadlines will be strictly observed. Other protocols may be submitted at any time.
  • IRB staff conduct a preliminary review and invariably request some protocol modifications. Modifications must be completed, reviewed, and accepted two weeks prior to the posted Board meeting date or the protocol WILL NOT be placed on the meeting agenda. Do not wait until the two week deadline to send in revisions as this will not allow enough time for review.
  • To facilitate reviews, investigators are invited to Board meetings, in person or via zoom, to directly address concerns.
  • To understand the IRB review process, see the IRB Flow Charts.
  • For guidance on preparing protocols, see our Protocol Tips page.
