NIH Faculty Institutional Recruitment for Sustainable Transformation (FIRST) Program: FIRST Cohort (U54 Clinical Trial Optional)

https://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/rfa-files/RFA-RM-20-022.html

The purpose of the FIRST Cohort is to transform culture at NIH-funded extramural institutions by building a self-reinforcing community of scientists committed to diversity and inclusive excellence (defined below). Implementing and sustaining cultures of inclusive excellence within the program has the potential to be transformational for biomedical research at the awardee institutions and beyond. This community will be built through recruitment of a diverse group of early-career faculty who are competitive for an advertised research tenure-track or equivalent faculty position and who have demonstrated strong commitment to promoting diversity and inclusive excellence.

ORSP is seeking Letters of Intent by midnight Friday, December 18, 2020, from indivisuals interested in leading the development of an institutional proposal to this limited funding opportunity. Based on the viability and credibility of the LOIs received, we may turnaround and issue a call for internal applications in a competition for the privilege of leading such a proposal development effort. If so, further instructions on how to prepare that internal competition and when it will be due (sometime in mid January) will be posted here and e-mailed to the LOI submitters. LOIs should whould be submitted to the Ole Miss Infoready Review Portal, and should include:

- Descriptive title of proposed activity
- Name and department of the submitting PI/PI
- Names departments of any other anticipated key UM personnel
- Short description of the anticipated activity (250 words or less)
