As of November 1st, Kathy Sukanek, who has served as Associate Director of Research in the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs since 1993, will be the Assistant Director of Administration and External Projects at the National Food Service Management Institute. The Office of Research and Sponsored Programs is sorry to lose her, but wishes her the best of luck in her new position.
In the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs, Sukanek has touched on, and usually been deeply involved in, every aspect of research administration. She joined the OR in 1991, bringing with her ten years’ experience as Director of Research and Sponsored Programs at the State University College of Arts and Sciences in Potsdam, New York. With particular expertise in award negotiations, contract concerns, compliance issues, and research accountability, Sukanek’s work in the Office and on campus committees helped shape OR and University procedures and policies for ensuring that proposals and funded projects are “do-able” legally and financially.
Sukanek’s new duties will include planning, developing, managing and supervising NFSMI’s financial and administrative operations and grants management. NFSMI provides information and services to promote improvement of Child Nutrition Programs, working primarily with state agencies and school districts.
