The University Research Board (URB) is a standing committee charged by the Chancellor with the responsibility of creating an atmosphere for the encouragement of research. Chaired by the Vice Chancellor for Research and Sponsored Programs, the URB provides oversight, guidance, and coordination of research activities at the university. URB responsibilities include the following:
- Develops policies, establishes guidelines, and sets forth regulations for activities in all areas of research, including educational and service activities, sponsored programs, and other activities supported in whole or in part by external funding
- Assumes responsibility for addressing questions in those areas in which university policy is not clearly delineated
