These guidelines define general University policy and procedures regarding conflicts of interest in relationship to research or educational sponsored projects. Their purpose is to protect the credibility and integrity of the University of Mississippi’s (UM) faculty, staff, and students to ensure public trust and confidence.
UM has a responsibility to manage any real or perceived conflict of interest arising from an investigator’s financial interest(s). The University requires that Investigators disclose financial interests that may present a real or perceived conflict of interest in relationship with their Institutional Responsibilities; and then, manage or eliminate those conflicts.
This policy applies to ALL sponsored projects — research, educational, and service. The disclosure of a financial interest that creates a real or perceived conflict of interest will not delay proposal submissions.
