The Pre-College Program Office in the Division of Outreach will provide an overview of the services it could offer other constituencies on campus who are interesting in hosting minors on campus for academic purposes during the summer.
These services may be of interest to UM investigators interested in (proposing activities to sponsors that will result in) broadening the impacts of their research by creating outreach opportunities to students through summer research or other residential academic experiences.
Services include:
- Trained counselors who will be certified through the universities Minors on Campus Policy
- Assistance marketing the program, including databases work, website construction, flyers, brochures, etc.
- Housing
- Meal Plans
- Planned activities for when students are not working on their academic portion of the program. This includes weekends.
- Possible tuition scholarships for summer school courses
In short, the Division of Outreach can handle everything outside of the class or lab. If the department handles the academic programming or research experience, Pre-College Programs can handle the rest.
Space is limited, so UM faculty, staff, and students wishing to attend should register online at http://www.research.olemiss.edu/upcoming-presentations.
Lunch will be provided.
