Program: Oak Ridge Associated Universities (ORAU) has announced the Ralph E. Powe Junior Faculty Enhancement Award competition for 2014. These awards are intended to enrich the research and professional growth of junior faculty and result in new funding opportunities. Each award is $5,000 for one year (June 1 to May 31) and requires an institutional match of $5,000. UM internal due date for applications is December 11, 2013.
UM may nominate up to two full-time assistant professors whose initial tenure track appointment began between1/10/2012 and 1/10/2014. The research project must be in one of the following five disciplines:
- Engineering and Applied Science
- Life Sciences
- Mathematics/Computer Sciences
- Physical Sciences
- Policy, Management, or Education

Deadlines: Submit your three documents via email attachment to Jason Hale (jghale@olemiss.edu) before 5:00 p.m. on December 11, 2013. Application materials will be reviewed, UM nominees selected, and applicants notified by the ORSP by December 14, 2013. Selected applicants should then ask their department chair or dean to send the required letter of recommendation (in Word or PDF format) via e-mail attachment to Jason Hale before the January 3, 2014. These letters should be addressed to Dr. Alice M. Clark, Vice Chancellor for Research and Sponsored Programs, University of Mississippi.
The ORAU deadline is January 10, 2014.
