The UM Vivarium staff ensures a good management program that:
- Provides the environment, housing, and care that permit research animals to grow, mature, reproduce, and maintain good health;
- Provides for animal well-being;
- Minimizes variations that can affect research results (Guide, pg. 21); and
- Assist as team members in conducting IACUC-related species-specific and procedural training sessions as necessary.
UM Vivarium staff is in communication with the PIs, graduate/research assistants and other research personnel, the University Veterinarian, and the IACUC office staff.
