As of May 31, ORSP has already heard from 11 faculty members who are planning to submit NSF Faculty Early Career Development Proposals in 2016, and we have begun receiving proposal narratives to review from some of you. In addition, there are at least 6 other faculty members who have expressed interest in the program and, to our knowledge, have not yet ruled out a submission this year. Depending on the discipline, these proposals will be due to NSF July 20, 21, or 22.
This extraordinary level of interest in NSF CAREER funding is exciting from a faculty development perspective, while also creating logistical challenges; thus In order to plan our time to provide the best service and ensure on-time submission of compliant proposals to NSF, we need to know as soon as possible (no later than June 10th) who intends to submit a CAREER proposal this year. If we haven’t heard from you by June 10th, we will assume that you are not submitting.
In addition, NSF CAREER proposals will be due in their entirety to ORSP on June 30. Those requesting enhanced reviews of their proposal narratives should have those narratives to ORSP no later than June 23rd. We cannot guarantee that we’ll be able to process proposals that we did not know were coming by June 10, or that are received after June 30, nor will we likely be able to provide enhanced reviews for narratives received after June 23rd. Out of respect for those who submit their proposals to ORSP by June 30th, any late proposals received will be considered on a case-by-case basis only after all those received on time have been reviewed and submitted to NSF.
