Navy offers exciting opportunities for researchers to gain more experience.

The Office of Naval Research launches the 2001 U.S. Navy-ASEE Summer Faculty Research Program and a Sabbatical Leave Program for science and engineering researchers. This program gives researchers a chance to study at Navy laboratories for a 10-week period between May and August with the opportunity to work with professional collaborators on research of shared interests.

Three levels of appointment are available: Summer Faculty Fellow, Senior Summer Faculty Fellow and Distinguished Summer Faculty Fellow. Participants must be U.S. citizens holding teaching or research positions at a U.S. college or university.

Stipends range from $1350 to $1850 per week. Each fellow will be reimbursed for his/her personal travel for an optional pre-program visit and relocation will also be provided to qualified applicants. The application deadline is January 15, 2001, and offers of appointment will be made within 90 days. For more information, go to http://www.asee.org/summer.
