The University Research Board has approved Mandatory Grant Management Education and Training for all UM faculty and staff who serve as Principal Investigators (PIs) and Co-PIs on sponsored grants and contracts.  The Office of Research and Sponsored Programs is preparing training modules to be offered as Blackboard courses to all current PIs and Co-PIs. The first module, covering Effort Reporting, will be made available to all PIs and Co-PIs on currently active projects on October 10, 2013.  All current PIs and Co-PIs should take this training module before January 15, 2014.   Estimated completion time for this training module is less than 1 hour.

Mandatory training is a requirement now at most universities as federal auditors are emphasizing tighter institutional control over federally sponsored projects.   These new PI Education and Training modules are part of ORSP's ongoing effort to maintain compliance with federal regulations.
