Ralph E. Powe Junior Faculty Enhancement Awards - 2016

Program:  Oak Ridge Associated Universities (ORAU) sponsors the Ralph E. Powe Junior Faculty Enhancement Awards to enrich the research and professional growth of junior faculty and catalyze competitiveness for other funding opportunities. Each award is $5,000 for one year (June 1 to May 31) and requires an institutional match of $5,000 (to provided by ORSP). UM internal due date for applications is Wednesday, December 16, 2015, at 11:00 am. Late applications will not be considered.

UM may nominate up to two full-time assistant professors whose initial tenure track appointment began between 1/11/2014 and 1/11/2016. The research project must be in one of the following five disciplines:

  • Engineering and Applied Science
  • Life Sciences
  • Mathematics/Computer Sciences
  • Physical Sciences
  • Policy, Management, or Education

To be considered for nomination, follow the instructions at: http://www.orau.org/university-partnerships/faculty-student-programs/powe/default.aspx. In particular, UM internal applicants will need to prepare: a one-page abbreviated resume in the prescribed format; a two-page research proposal; and the completed application in html format.

Deadlines:  Create and submit an application using the UM InfoReady Review portal at https://olemiss.infoready4.com before 11:00 a.m. on December 16, 2015. If the link does not work, copy and paste the URL into your browser. First time InfoReady Review users will need to register for an InfoReady account using your olemiss.edu e-mail address as your account name. Once all applications have been received, they will be scored by a committee of reviewers assembled by ORSP. UM nominees will be selected, and applicants will be notified by the ORSP by December 18, 2015.  Only the two selected applicants should then ask their department chair or dean to send the required letter of recommendation (in Word or PDF format) via e-mail attachment to Jason Hale (jghale@olemiss.edu) before January 6, 2016.  These letters should be addressed to Dr. Alice M. Clark, Vice Chancellor for Research and Sponsored Programs, University of Mississippi.

The ORAU deadline is 11 am CST, January 11, 2015.

Questions may be directed to Jason Hale (jghale@olemiss.edu).
