Fay Frank Seed Grants 2019

The Brain Wellness Flagship Constellation is seeking candidates for nomination to The Brain Foundation’s Fay/Frank Seed Grant Program for 2019.

These seed grants provide $40,000/year in direct costs for new, two-year, research projects in neuroscience, ideally resulting in a successful proposal to NIH or another extramural funding agency. These seed grants are intended to support junior faculty working in new research directions on innovative projects.

This is a limited funding opportunity. The University of Mississippi, including UM Oxford and UMMC, can submit only one nomination in total.

Assistant Professors and Associate Professors on either campus wishing to be considered for this nomination are invited to complete and submit a Letter of Intent (LOI) form, along with their NIH-style biosketch, via the UM InfoReady Review Portal, no later than November 27.

Download the LOI form: http://www.research.olemiss.edu/FayFrankSeedGrants2019. Complete sections I – IV of the form, and submit via the InfoReady Review Portal at https://olemiss.infoready4.com/. Do NOT complete the signature page at this time—that will come later if you are selected as the sole nominee. DO, however, submit an NIH-style biosketch along with your LOI, according to the program guidelines (see http://www.research.olemiss.edu/sites/default/files/2019-SG-Guidelines.pdf.)

The UM and UMMC leaders of the Brain Wellness Flagship Constellation will manage internal review and down-selection process to choose the UM or UMMC faculty member with the most compelling LOI. Once the selected nominee has been notified and accepted the nomination, all those who were NOT selected will be notified as well. Our goal is to complete these notifications by December 4.

The nominee will then need to work with the sponsored programs office at their respective institution (UM/Oxford or UMMC) to get the LOI finalized, institutionally signed, and submitted to the sponsor by the January 8 deadline.

In mid-February, the Brain Foundation will invite a subset of LOI providers to submit a full application, which will be due to the sponsor on March 27.
