Inaugural Mississippi Bio Conference

Mississippi Bio, the state affiliate of the Biotechnology Industry Association (Bio), is hosting the first annual Mississippi Bio Conference on March 25, 2014 at the University of Mississippi Medical Center Student Union.  This year’s conference will feature the presentation of a study conducted by Battelle on behalf of Mississippi Bio entitled: "A Roadmap for Growing the State’s Bioscience Industry.” In this study, Battelle identified three primary technology platforms in Mississippi:  Biomass, Biofuels and Bio-based Products; Biopharmaceuticals and Health Products from Natural Products; and Aquaculture.  

The conference will feature a keynote address by former Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour, and will include panel discussions on drug development, research collaborations among state institutions, and life sciences economic development in the state.
